Public Health Research, Education and Development (PHRED) Program
The Public Health Research, Education and Development (PHRED)
Program is a program involving boards of health, health science
programs of Ontario universities and colleges and the Ministry of
Health and Long-Term Care which contributes to health promotion, health
protection and the prevention of health problems among residents of
Ontario through:
- Conducting applied public health research in areas critical to effective and efficient public health practice.
- Leadership in undergraduate, graduate and post-professional education of future health and public health professionals.
- Continual improvement of the PHRED Program.
There are currently five PHRED Programs in the province: Ottawa; Middlesex-London; Hamilton; Kingston, Frontenac and Lennox & Addington; and Sudbury & District.Funding for this program has been cost shared with the province since March 31, 1999.
