July 2, 2008 — Community Food Advisor Program Closed

Earlier in June we received a letter from the Barrie Community Health Centre informing partners that they had made the decision to close the Community Food Advisor (CFA) program (as of June 1). They indicated that resources to sustain the program have been diminishing over the last 15 years and they no longer have the resources to sustain the program. They also indicated that they approached a number of community agencies to partner on the program to try to sustain it, but these agencies were also facing challenges with scarce resources.

Good for Life has partnered with the CFA program for several years and recognizes the time and expertise these volunteers have given to the community. There presence in the community will no doubt be missed.
