Safe Kids Week

Kaelyn Pancel, nine, is the winner of a new bicycle and bike helmet, awarded by from the Barrie and Area Safe Kids Committee as part of Safe Kids Week. Three bikes were donated by Toys R Us, a member of the committee, which also includes representatives of the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, Barrie City Police, Ontario Early Years Centre, the Canadian Coast Guard and the City of Barrie.

Claire Steciuk, Sara Kup, Madylin Laine and Liam Bellamy were all winners of prizes donated by the Canadian Cycling Company during Safe Kids Week. Mia Brown, a public health nurse with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit presented the prizes at Heritage Park in Barrie Tuesday, June 20. The health unit, Toys R Us, Barrie City Police, Ontario Early Years Centres, the Canadian Coast Guard and the City of Barrie all have representatives on the Barrie and Area Safe Kids Committee, which works to educate families about preventable childhood injuries.
